I carry all my movies on my Windows Mobile phone and my portable speakers and that's my whole portable entertainment system. The Optoma EP-PK-101 Picp Projector is my companion for all my trips. specially when the hotels have those old small tv's and you can't choose much what to watch.
This adapter is about a $50 value (for the Apple Composite Cable alone) so its great, you just need to supply your own 3.5mm to RCA cable and you can connect to any TV as well. Leave all of your preconceptions behind, before you take a look at this device and you will come away impressed.Know that you will be using it with just your portable electronics that have composite out or your iPhone/iPod Touch and you will be fine. This is not a replacement for a full fledged projector with a multitude of inputs.I tested it with YouTube on my iPhone (original 4GB) and videos from the iPod. Works really well, you just need to turn off sleep for the YouTube videos to play continuously.I paired this with my iHome Capsule Speakers and have an amazingly small and great sounding projector set up that I can use almost anywhere. This is simply, a fun device to show videos and pictures to a group of people when you don't have access or just don't want to hook up to a TV.I like the adapter they included for the iPhone/iPod but wish they included an extra USB cable [.].to charge the iPhone/iPod while it's hooked up to the projector.
The PK-101 is way too cool and portable for use by dinosaurs still tethered to computers and DVD players. She plugged it into her iPod touch and was displaying videos on the ceilings and walls around the house.
Its great for sharing photos and videos stored on iPods, digital cameras, cell phones and MP3 players. There is a built in speaker but since this is a personal projector it is better to use ear buds connected to the iPod for audio.Overall, this product is a home run.
This is an amazing product for displaying large images from iPods, cell phones and MP3 players. As soon as my high school age daughter got her hands on the pico projector she knew how to use it.
Note - you do need a composite video output on your cell phone to show videos from the projector. Do not mistake this projector for use with computers and DVD players.
This projector was obviously designed for the under 25 crowd who are always connected to their iPods and other hand held devices.
Seeing type, will not be an issue for presentations. What these new projectors will need to have, is wireless connectivity. If you have to have a small projector, this unit seems to be the best. They will be bright and clear. If you don't need to spend the money now, wait just a little longer. The scientist who is primarily responsible for the BLUE laser (blu-ray technology), has recently had successes in green laser development.Rather than having LED's to create light for projection purposes (dim light sources), we'll have lasers, which are concentrated light sources that are bright and focused. Before now, there has only been red and blue lasers, but I project, that within a year, there will also be green lasers. With all 3 colors available in laser form, LED based projectors will become obsolete (low resolution, low light output). The new, all laser-based projectors will not require lenses, or focusing.
But at 4 oz & lots of travel, I'll put up with any of these challenges. I can't seem to find any discernible difference between low & bright settings so I keep it on low to save battery power. The projector gives a good, clear picture but the focus slider is a little off. There is only a tiny little area for good focus in the much larger area of movement.
